I was tasked with creating a Typographic poster for the show West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein. West Side Story is a story about two rival gangs following a Romeo and Juliette theme where one member of Jets falls in love with a female of the Sharks spurring more fighting until utlimtley ending in tragedy and ending the rivalry.

Through a long and exciting hands on process of cutting and scanning papers reading “Love” and ‘Hate” I created what is seen as the background of the poster and two of the main themes of the show. Through overlapping text incorporating the gangs colors or red and blue we can see the commotion of their paths crossing through the world of hate and love.
